• It helps us both feel valued and prioritized 

By setting aside dedicated time for each other it helps us feel more connected and appreciated by each other.

•  It gives us time to enjoy each other’s presence, hold hands and “Just BE Together” 

Date night gives us an opportunity to relax and be fully present with each other, and have a break from the responsibilities and distractions of everyday life. 

• It Fosters Quality Conversations And a deeper emotional connection 

It gives us time to be vulnerable and share hopes, dreams, fears, struggles, ideas, insights from life and prayer. We have found that date night helps us stay in-tune with the interior, intellectual and emotional life of each other. 

•  It Helps Us Slow Down And Laugh Together 

Date night helps us prioritize having fun and enjoying something together.  Particularly because we both tend to be action oriented, it helps us both slow down and decompress together. 

Our relationship continues to become deeper and richer week after week, because we. prioritize this one on one time together.

•  We are not always “in the mood” to make the effort

Having quality time together takes a real effort that one or both of us might not always be ‘in the mood’ to give, but when one or both of us push through the initial resistance, we are always glad we did. 

•  Thinking, “we are in a uniquely demanding phase right now, and that we’ll prioritize Us When Things Slow Down”.

At times it can be very tempting for us to each feel that we have more urgent demands on our plate that justify pushing our time to the side. (sometimes this is true, but most of the time it is not)   

•  The Weekends Keep Getting Busier and The Distractions More Attractive

We usually do our date night on the weekend.  It’s a time we both find optimal for us, but it has required us at times to say “no” to very attractive things that pop up, in order for us to have the time to prioritize our marriage.  The mindset that helps us make these challenging sacrifices is, “Things that matter most should never be displaced by things that matter less.”
